SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– Two more residents in Olongapo City had died of COVID-19, raising to 84 the city’s number of fatalities related to the disease as of Monday, May 24.
Data released by Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. show that the latest to die from the disease were a 69-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman.
The man tested positive for COVID-19 on May 16, while the woman got infected on May 23.
The city has been reporting elderly residents dying of COVID-19 in the last four days, making it among the areas in Central Luzon to log a high mortality rate.
Paulino said 13 new COVID-19 patients aged 9 to 84 were also added to the city’s tally that day, bringing the number of active infections to 192.
So far, Olongapo had reported 1,816 COVID-19 cases since last year, and 1,554 of these had healed from the disease.
