Task force: Marawi rehab 65% complete, on track to be finished by year-end

MANILA, Philippines — The rehabilitation of war-torn Marawi is now 65 percent complete and remains on track within the target deadline of December 2021, Task Force Bangon Marawi chairman and Housing Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario assured Tuesday.
“Lahat ng ating public infra na pinapagawa is now 65 percent complete. Yan ang accomplishment rate natin, 65 percent,” Del Rosario said in a televised briefing.

“And we are on track with our stated deadline of December of the year na 100 percent ng lahat ng ongoing projects matatapos natin,” he added.

Malacañang has also assured that the reconstruction of Marawi will be completed before President Rodrigo Duterte’s term ends.
The Maute group laid siege on the city for five months, starting on May 23, 2017, which led to widespread destruction of property and infrastructure and loss of lives in the Islamic city.
Thousands of survivors were displaced and were forced to live in temporary shelters provided by the government.
