Motorcyclist dead, rider hurt in Quezon road accident

LUCENA CITY –– A motorcyclist died while his back rider was injured after a tricycle hit their vehicle in Catanauan town in Quezon province on Sunday night.

Mark Alano, 27, was cruising the Bondoc Peninsula highway when a speeding tricycle from the opposite lane hit his motorcycle in Barangay 10 around 7 p.m. The tricycle was driven by Gilbert Pardilla, 30.

Alano and his pillion rider, May Daguro, 23, suffered grave head and body injuries. They were taken to Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital, but Alano died along the way.

The police said Pardilla, who also suffered injuries, was found driving under the influence of liquor.

He was taken into custody by police while an investigation continues.
