Tricycle driver slain, wife hurt in Quezon shooting incident

LUCENA CITY –– A tricycle driver was killed and his wife seriously injured in a shooting incident in Dolores town in Quezon province on Sunday night.

Dolores police said in a report Monday that Jonathan Gaurano, 30, and his wife, Rhealou, 25, were about to sleep in their house in Barangay Sta. Lucia around 8:30 p.m., when they heard someone calling for Jonathan.

The couple went out of their room and was shot multiple times by the suspect, identified as Joal Baquiran, who used a gun of still unidentified caliber.

Baquiran and his cohort, Christian Baquiran, fled on foot after the shooting.

The report did not specify the relationship between the suspects, who are both residents of the nearby village of Kinabuhayan.

The victims suffered multiple bullet wounds and were taken by their neighbors to San Pablo District Hospital in San Pablo City, but Jonathan expired on the way.

Investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting incident.

The suspects are the subject of a police manhunt.
