MANILA, Philippines — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the National Bureau of Investigation’s cybercrime division are now hunting down unscrupulous sellers of vaccines against COVID-19 reportedly linked to local governments.

Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police, on Saturday said he tasked the CIDG to probe the “under-the-table” sale of vaccine slots and vaccines purchased by and donated to the government.

“We will pursue and make accountable to the law all the organizers of this crime. As per the directive of [Interior Secretary] Eduardo Año, I have ordered the CIDG to identify and arrest the persons behind these scams,” he said.
