MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines on Thursday morning received an additional 500,000 doses of Sinovac’s CoronaVac COVID-19 vaccine procured by the government.
“Yes,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III confirmed to INQUIRER.net in a text message when asked if the latest COVID-19 batch has been delivered.
The vaccine were delivered via a Cebu Pacific flight (5J671) at Terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The latest shipment brings the total of CoronaVac doses received by the Philippines to 5.5 million, including one million doses donated by the Chinese government.
Earlier this month, 1.5 million doses of CoronaVac procured by the government arrived in Manila.
Some 3.5 million doses were also delivered in several tranches in March and April.
Vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. previously said the Philippines may also receive 4.5 million doses of CoronaVac in June.
