MANILA, Philippines — Another 110 COVID-19 patients have died, raising the coronavirus death toll in the country to 19,372 as of Tuesday, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
Data from the DOH showed that the number of fatalities represents 1.68 percent of all the 1,154,388 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country.
Based on previous case bulletins from the DOH, the total number of new deaths reported from May 12 to 18 is 753, or an average of 107.57 deaths per day for the past seven days.
Meanwhile, the total number of additional fatalities from May 5 to 11 is 910, or an average of 130 deaths per day for the said period.
The country currently has 52,291 active COVID-19 cases, including 95.2 percent that are mild and asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, 1.5 percent of the active cases are critical, 2 percent are severe, and 1.29 percent are moderate cases.
The DOH earlier explained that as COVID-19 cases go down, the number of new deaths would naturally decrease as well.

At present, the occupancy of intensive care unit (ICU) beds for severe and critical patients in Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is currently at high risk, according to DOH data.
Data from the health department showed that as of May 15, the utilization for ICU beds is 71 percent in Cagayan Valley, 73 percent in Calabarzon, 76 percent in the Zamboanga Peninsula, and 83 percent in BARMM.
Nationwide, the ICU occupancy is 59 percent.
