MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday said that isolated rainshowers may occur in the afternoon and evening, even as the heat and humidity is expected to continue throughout the country.

This is due to the Pacific easterlies or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, according to Pagasa in its weather bulletin issued at 4 a.m.

(We will continue to experience hot and humid weather. As the afternoon and evening comes, it is still possible for us to have isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.)

Temperatures in Metro Manila and key cities may rise to as high as 39 degree celsius.

Rainshowers due to ITCZ

Meanwhile, rainshowers are more likely to occur in parts of Mindanao as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to affect the region.

(The ITCZ is the place where the air from the northern and southern hemisphere meets.)

The two winds then produce rain-carrying clouds as it meets in Mindanao, according to Mendoza.

No gale warning has been raised in the entire country.
