Ormoc City mayor orders all tourist spots shut

TACLOBAN CITY Mayor Richard Gomez of Ormoc City in Leyte has ordered the closure of all tourism sites in his jurisdiction as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The closure of all the tourist spots in Ormoc City started May 14 and will remain so until the end of the month.

Ormoc City currently has 1,096 COVID-19 cases, including 65 patients tagged as “active” and 18 deaths.

The regional office of the Department of Health announced on Monday that Eastern Visayas has 27 new cases of COVID-19, bringing its total number of infections to 19,235.
