‘Shabu’ worth more than P19-M seized in Rodriguez, Taguig City busts

MANILA, Philippines — More than P19 million worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth) were seized in separate buy-bust operations in Rodriguez, Rizal and Taguig City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Sunday.

In Taguig, suspected ‘shabu’ worth P13.6 million were seized from two suspects in a joint operation by PDEA and Southern Police District operatives.

Suspects Melani Capin, 35; and Jeffrey Sadiasa, 31, were arrested in a buy-bust operation at the open parking lot of a mall in West Bicutan at around 4:30 P.M. on Saturday,  the PDEA said.

Confiscated from Capin and Sadiasa were two kilos of shabu worth P13.6 million and the marked cash used in the bust.

In Rodriguez, Rizal, a woman, and a minor were arrested with P5.8 million worth of ‘shabu’ in their possession by elements of the Eastern Police District in coordination with the PDEA.

Raona Ala, 37, along with the minor, were arrested during the buy-bust operation in Barangay (village) San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal around 4:00 P.M. on Saturday.

Seized from Ala were 680 grams of suspected ‘shabu’ worth P5.8 million, a digital weighing scale, and the marked cash used in the bust.

Ala is now detained at the Marikina City Police Station, while the minor was sent to the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the arrested suspects.
