The former police chief of Fryeburg in Maine, USA, had his license revoked after an investigation found out that he faked a report to get out of a meeting last year.

Joshua Potvin lost his license upon the decision of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy’s board of trustees last February, as per Bangor Daily News on May 13. The investigation became public just this month after Potvin withdrew his request for an appeal.

The recent data from the academy showed that on Feb. 27, 2020, Potvin texted one of his officers to call him just before the public comment portion of a Fryeburg Board of Selectmen meeting.

Potvin then took the call and left the meeting and drove to the Fryeburg Fairgrounds to meet the officer he ordered to call him, according to the report.

The former police chief at the time saw a fairground employee getting into a car, whom he used for his fake report he filed via his cruiser’s computer.

Potvin reportedly entered the employee’s license plate number into the dispatch entry, where he said he went to the fairground in response to a report of a suspicious person.
