1 suspect shot dead, 1 arrested in Sorsogon drug stings
LEGAZPI CITY — A drug suspect was killed while another was arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Sorsogon on Friday.
Police Colonel Arturo Brual Jr., Sorsogon police chief, said Jay-ar Quintana, 31, was killed in an operation in Barangay Mercedes in Pilar town at around 8:40 p.m.
Brual reported that when Quintana was about to be arrested, he drew his gun and fired at the police officers, who were forced to fire back.
Quintana sustained several gunshot wounds and died on the spot, Brual added.
Recovered from Quintana were two large sachets of shabu (crystal meth) worth an estimated P26,000 and a loaded gun.
Article continues after this advertisementIn Sorsogon City, Franche Charl Sanchez, 21, was arrested in Barangay Bibincahan at around 5:05 p.m.
Article continues after this advertisementAuthorities seized a big plastic bag and four small sachets with suspected marijuana leaves and “fruiting tops.”
Sanchez was in the illegal drugs watch list of the police.
