PH to seal procurement deal for 40 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines will sign this Friday the term sheet for the procurement of 40 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines developed by American drugmaker Pfizer-BioNTech, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said.
“I would like to announce in this launching that as of this day, I have already signed the head of terms or the term sheet for procurement of Pfizer for 40 million [doses],” Galvez said during the launch of the private sector and media outlets’ Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat campaign.
“At naaprubahan po nila itong tinatawag nating head of terms at nakapagpirma na po ang global [representative] po nila at ako po ngayon at si [Health] Secretary [Francisco] Duque, we will sign it today,” he added.
(They have already approved these head of terms and their global representative has signed already. Secretary Duque and I will sign it today.)
The Philippines has already received 193,050 doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 jabs, but these were donated by the global vaccine sharing pool COVAX facility led by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Galvez said 2.2 million more doses of Pfizer’s vaccine, still from the COVAX facility, are expected to arrive in the country within this month.
