A Black man accused of wearing a realistic white-skinned mask with brown hair as a disguise to commit burglaries has been arrested in California in the United States.
Rockim Prowell, 30, was caught at a traffic stop on May 2, the Beverly Hills Police Department reported via Facebook on May 8
Police searched Prowell’s vehicle and found the realistic face mask that linked him to several burglary charges. The car he was driving also turned out to be stolen, as the license plates matched a missing car.
Prowell has since been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of grand theft and one count of vandalism, police said.
One of the recent burglaries occurred on April 20 in Beverly Hills, according to the police. During the investigation, they discovered that the same culprit was responsible for another burglary on July 20 last year in the same area.
Surveillance cameras were able to record the suspect and the vehicle on both occasions, and showed that both crimes were done by a single person. Prowell reportedly stole flat-screen televisions during both crimes.
On security footage of his burglaries, police noted that the suspect’s “mouth was always open,” and confirmed that it was a skin mask after they caught him on the second break-in, as per Fox Los Angeles on May 9.
Authorities also determined that Prowell was responsible for over 30 burglaries after they searched his home and found stolen items from several other residences.
