MANILA, Philippines — Guests who flocked to the Gubat sa Ciudad resort in Caloocan City over the weekend must undergo quarantine for 14 days to make sure there is no COVID-19 transmission among them, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the health department has already instructed its regional office to monitor those who went to the resort.

“’Yung nagpunta diyan sa resort na ‘yan, kailangan nila mag-quarantine for 14 days, lahat sila so that we can ensure na walang pagkahawa-hawaan na mangyayari,” she added.

Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan has ordered the closure of the resort for violating quarantine rules.

Vergeire said the DOH is not tolerating the incident and hopes this will not be repeated.

She said the resort-goers should keep in mind that Caloocan City, which is in Metro Manila, is under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) and mass gatherings and tourism activities are not allowed.
