MANILA, Philippines – The heat index in Metro Manila on Friday could range between 34.3 to 38.2 degrees Celsius, according to the forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Heat index, or the human-perceived temperature, could vary depending on where an individual is, and is different from the temperature forecast for the day, Pagasa weather specialist Shelly Ignacio explained.

Depende po yan kung san po tayo namamalagi or kung san po tayo naroon,” said Ignacio in the morning bulletin of the state weather bureau.

(The temperature is lower when we are near plants, but when we are surrounded by concrete or buildings, the heat index is higher.)

The forecast temperature in Metro Manila on Friday is between 25 to 35 degrees Celsius, according to Pagasa.
