Japanese man found dead in Nueva Ecija

CUYAPO, Nueva Ecija – An 82-year-old Japanese national was found dead in this town, police said on Tuesday.

Investigators said Norio Lurumatsuka of Tokyo, Japan bore signs of beating.

The man was found dead inside a nipa hut owned by a certain Rolly Dumandan of Barangay Columbitin, according to Lt. Col. Erwin Ferry, the town’s police chief.

Investigation showed that the head of Lurumatsuka was hit by a hard object, Ferry said.

The Japanese Embassy had been informed about the incident, investigators said.

Ferry said the victim, who also used to go to Baguio City and Tarlac province, was engaged in treasure hunting.

The police said a suspect, whose identity has yet to be disclosed to the public, was arrested in a follow-up operation. INQ
