MANILA, Philippines — The aid distribution in Metro Manila, which was placed under enhanced community quarantine for two weeks, is already 75% done, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.
DILG spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said about 8.4 million beneficiaries have already received their assistance, which amounts to P8.4 billion.
“Dito sa National Capital Region, 75% na ang nakatanggap ng ayuda. P8.4 billion na ang nabigay na ayuda, which means 8,410,659 ang mga benepisyaryong nakatanggap ng ayuda,” he said in a Laging Handa public briefing.
He added that the distribution of aid among local government units (LGUs) was “very systematic and organized.”
Among Metro Manila LGUs, Caloocan government placed top in the aid distribution with 96.31% done, followed by Quezon City (94.95%), Mandaluyong (92.51%), Navotas (90.68%), Manila (88.39%), Pateros (87.69%), and San Juan (80.40%)
LGUs were given until May 15 to distribute aid to their constituents.
Some 22.9 million beneficiaries across Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna were expected to receive at least P1,000 each or up to 4,000 per family either in cash or in-kind.
