PH to repatriate Filipinos in India

/ 04:37 AM May 03, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos in India who wish to return to the Philippines will be repatriated once commercial flights resume, Ambassador Ramon Bagatsing Jr. said.

But he said that as of now only a few Filipinos have expressed willingness to go home.

“Not that many. Although, if there’s one Filipino who wants to go home, we need to help them,” he said in a television interview.

Bagatsing said it was “logistically difficult” to organize a repatriation flight because many countries, including the Philippines, have issued a travel ban on India. He added that the Philippines does not have a direct flight to India.

Two Filipino workers in India have died due of COVID-19.
