Around 7 p.m., police said Niere went to the agreed meeting place, a secluded area in sitio Upper Sun-ok that was at least 100 meters from her employer’s house.
Niere was surprised when it was Orias who showed up.
Niere told police that Orias suddenly hugged her and whispered, “Ayaw ko buwagi, Cel (Don’t leave me, Cel).”
Niere said she told Orias that she didn’t want to see him anymore. A furious Orias pulled out a knife from his waistline and repeatedly stabbed the woman.
A wounded Niere ran. Orias gave chase but backed off after seeing the woman shouting for help.
Niere was rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
About two hours after the incident, Orias surrendered to PO1 Raffy Cuandot, a neighbor from barangay Sawang Calero.
