PH mulls travel ban on India

/ 04:36 AM April 27, 2021

The Philippines is considering whether to restrict travel to and from India due to its worsening COVID-19 health crisis. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has sought the recommendation of the Department of Health (DOH) whether to impose a travel ban on India. “We already had initial discussions with the DFA. They are just waiting for our recommendations,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Monday. The variant of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that has been detected in India has been detected in six other countries, Vergeire said. India recorded 349,691 new cases on Saturday.
