2 drug suspects slain in Nueva Ecija buy-bust

SANTA ROSA, Nueva Ecija — Two suspected drug traders were killed while P270,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) were seized in a buy-bust operation here at dawn on Sunday (April 25), police said.

Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito, head of the Nueva Ecija police’s drug enforcement unit, identified one of the suspects as Manny de Guzman, a resident of San Rafael, Bulacan.

The other fatality has yet to be identified, she said.

Desamito said the suspects allegedly initiated the firefight when operatives tried to arrest them for selling shabu to undercover operatives in Barangay Soledad at about 3:25 a.m.

The suspects died at the scene, investigators said

Police said they recovered 11 sachets of shabu weighing around 35 to 40 grams.

Forensic investigators also recovered the suspects’ .38-caliber revolvers and the marked money.
