Marijuana plantations destroyed in Kalinga police operation
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Around 280 kilos of marijuana bricks worth P33.6-million were seized and later burned along with three marijuana plantation sites in Kalinga province during a police operation this week, according to a belated police report on Saturday (April 24).
A joint team of Cordillera police officers and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) uprooted 128,800 fully-grown marijuana plants from several sites in Barangay Loccong which were valued at P25.76-million, said Police Colonel Davy Vicente Limmong, Kalinga police director.
While resting, the PDEA agents stumbled upon the marijuana bricks tucked inside seven sacks and 10 kilos of dried marijuana stalks, which were concealed by blue canvas.
Police failed to arrest any suspects.
