ORMOC CITY—A village councilor was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Thursday (April 22) at a village in the town of Alang-alang in Leyte province.
Mark Vergara, 32, did not resist arrest and faced charges of drug possession with intent to sell.
Vergara yielded several packets of shabu, or crystal meth, worth about P2,500.
The village official did not issue a statement to media.
Charges of violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared by police against Vergara, who is now detained at the Alang-alang police station.
