Bising slightly weakens; still to dump rain over Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands
MANILA, Philippines — Even if Typhoon Bising (international name: Surigae) slightly weakened, it is still expected to bring scattered rainshowers in Cagayan, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands, according to the state weather service’s forecast issued on Friday morning.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 3 a.m., Bising was located 575 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 170 kph.
It is moving east-northeast at 20 kph and seen to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Sunday.
Pagasa also said that due to the typhoon, cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers may be expected in Cagayan, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands while the rest of Luzon may see generally fair weather with isolated light rainshowers.
Fair weather is likewise expected in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, albeit with the likely occurrence of isolated rain.
Pagasa said gale warning is still raised in Batanes and the Babuyan Islands due to Bising, and vessels are advised to avoid sailing in the said areas.
