Press secretary Andanar’s dad dies at 73

Former Interior Undersecretary and presidential envoy to Malaysia Wencelito Andanar passed away on Thursday at the age of 73, according to his son Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar. The elder Andanar succumbed to liver cancer at the Veteran’s Memorial Medical Center. In 2018, he was appointed as the special envoy of President Duterte to Malaysia. “And through his leadership took initiative to bridge the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to the global market. Despite the pandemic, he was able to continue to work with the Malaysian government and assist in the repatriation efforts for overseas Filipinos,” he said.
