4 cops, 3 health workers among 21 new COVID-19 patients in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—Four policemen and three health workers were among the 21 new COVID-19 cases in the province on Sunday (April 18), authorities said.

In an advisory, Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said the four police officers were aged 25-43. Three had a history of travel outside the province.

The three health workers included a nurse in the capital town of Iba, a midwife in Castillejos town and a hospital employee in Candelaria town.

Bueno said the health workers could have been exposed to infected patients while they were at work.

These patients, along with 14 others, are currently being quarantined and treated at the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital in Iba or in various isolation facilities in the province.

Zambales has already recorded 1,579 COVID-19 cases since 2020.
