Today, February 9, is the 128th birth anniversary of Concepcion Felix Rodriguez, one of the country’s early feminists. Born in Tondo, Manila, in 1884, she was head of the Asociacion Feminista and established the Correctional Institute for Women. She was awarded the Presidential Medal Award in 1966 for her work on women’s rights. A historical marker has been built in her memory in Malate, Manila.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
