MANILA, Philippines — The local government of San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan said it has already vaccinated 88 percent of its targeted healthcare workers against COVID-19 as it aims to inoculate all of the city’s residents.

“No San Joseño should be left behind in this vaccination drive and we will work hard to achieve that for the people of San Jose. We are aiming for 100 percent vaccination! This is the only way for us to move forward from this pandemic,” San Jose Del Monte City Rep. Florida Robes said.

Robes said that while the city is targeting to inoculate only 70 percent of its around 1 million residents to achieve herd immunity, she said the city will do its best to vaccinate all its residents to ensure that all are protected.

According to the latest data from the city’s public information office (PIO), the city health department had vaccinated 3,459 out of the 3,895 health workers or 88.81 percent of their target as of April 6.

The city has likewise already vaccinated 100 percent of the 220 targeted people with comorbidities who have registered to get the vaccine.

The PIO, however, said the city is currently updating the target under the A3 category after additional data and registrants.

The city government said it has also resumed vaccinating the targeted 22,039 senior citizens who have registered to get the jabs after the national government had previously halted the use of AstraZeneca for seniors because of safety issues.

It said that it has designated 20 more vaccine sites, including hospitals and public schools for their vaccination program.
