Dapudong leads undercard winners of Pinoy Pride 6
FORMER WBC silver flyweight champion Edrin “The Sting” Dapudong won by fourth-round TKO over Benja Loemoli of Indonesia last night in the undercard of the Pinoy Pride 6: Grudge Rematch between Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista vs. Heriberto Ruiz of Mexico at the Waterfront Hotel Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
Dapudong, who won his first title over Jesus Jimenez in Mexico in June last year but lost it to Wilbert Uicab in his first defense, sent Loemoli to the canvas in the first round and dominated the game Indonesian in the 2nd and 3rd rounds before another knockdown at 20 seconds in the 4th forced the referee to stop the contest. Dapudong improved his record to 22-3.
Undefeated ALA superbantam prospect Genesis Servania scored two knockdowns in the first round against Richard Donaire of General Santos City before stopping his overmatched foe in the second to improve to 14 wins with 5 knockouts.
In a six-round give-and-take affair between Rey Melligen and Jesson Enzo, Melligen won by unanimous decision, 59-55, 58-56, 58-56, to remain undefeated in five fights.
Hot minifly prospect Roma Rate put on a show by sending Marjun Baliguat to the canvas three times in the first minute of the first round before winning by TKO when the referee stopped the fight after the third knockdown. Roma Rate, whose three previous wins were also by knockouts, first sent Baliguat with a left hook and then with a right before another left finished the night for Baliguat.
Another undefeated ALA prospect Boyce Sultan won by unanimous decision over Royroy Sumagat with identical scores of 58-56 from the three judges.
