MANILA, Philippines — Police Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Olay has been designated as Philippine National Police’s (PNP) new spokesperson.
He would replace Brig. Gen. Ildebrandi Usana, who told reporters on Friday he was “signing off” within the day to give way to Olay, who is “far better and more competent to provide the public the information that it needs with support from our media friends.”
Usana is retiring on April 20. His successor is currently the deputy director of the directorate for operations and a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990.
Olay also had brief stints as deputy director of PNP Health Service and deputy director for comptrollership in 2020.
He was also previously assigned as provincial director for Cagayan Police Provincial Office, director of Provincial Mobile Force Battalion in Batangas, among others.
