MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos who lose their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic may now have an opportunity to find a new employment as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) plans the national job summit on May 1.
During the job summit, DOLE will bring together business groups, labor sectors and the government agencies to lay out an “employment recovery agenda,” DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said during the Laging Handa briefing.
This also serves as an opportunity for Filipinos who lost their means of livelihood during the pandemic to find work online during the national job fair.
“Naghahanda po tayo para sa malawakang job fair para po sa May 1,” said Tutay.
(We are preparing for a wide job fair on May 1.)
Tutay said DOLE’s regional offices and public employment offices are already looking for job vacancies to offer to displaced workers in search of new work opportunities.
For more information and updates regarding the events, Tutay said individuals can visit the website of DOLE at dole.gov.ph or its social media pages.
DOLE earlier announced that it will hire displaced informal workers as contact tracers under its emergency employment program to help curb the rate of COVID-19 infection in the NCR Plus. . – Liezelle Soriano Roy, trainee
