This list increased from the April 7 data, which indicated that only 30 hospitals in Metro Manila had  100% bed occupancy.

The number of hospitals classified as critical, however, decreased from 56 last week.

Around 24 hospitals, meanwhile, were tagged under high-risk status, lower than the previously recorded 26 hospitals.

The recent data also bared that 154 facilities have submitted their data and were categorized based on their occupancy levels.

In addition, the same DOH data showed that around 85.28 percent or 666 of 781 total Intensive Care Unite (ICU) beds solely for COVID-19 patients in Metro Manila hospitals are already in use.

The health department further indicated that as of April 14, some 64.61 percent or 3,406 of 5,272 isolation beds, and 65.58 percent or 2,376 of 3,623 ward beds in NCR are likewise occupied.

Overall, it noted that the bed occupancy rate for the whole NCR reached 66.6 percent, with 6,448 of the total 9,676 beds in use.

DOH classifies occupancy levels for COVID-19 beds in health centers as either critical, high risk, moderate, and safe.

Under the critical level, hospitals have already reached more than 85 percent of their bed occupancy for COVID-19 patients.

Hospitals are classified as high risk if 70 percent but not more than 85 percent of its COVID-19 beds are occupied, while those with a COVID-19 bed capacity of 60 to 70 percent rate are classified as moderate.

Hospitals fall under the safe level if their bed utilization rate is less than 60 percent.

INQUIRER.net analyzed the most available data – April 14, 2021 – based on DOH’s COVID-19 tracker.

This article aims to show how prepared Metro Manila hospitals are, should there be a rush in COVID-19 infections in the region, which remains the epicenter of the health crisis in the Philippines.

However, only hospitals in Metro Manila that have information on COVID-19 bed allocation for the treatment of new coronavirus patients were included in this article.
