DAVAO CITY –– Mayor Sara Duterte has warned the public against a scam that uses her name in the buy-and-sell of properties.

In a statement released by the city information office Thursday, the mayor urged anyone who finds persons and groups involved in fraudulent transactions using her name to report these to the police or the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

“It has come to my attention that some unscrupulous individuals are using a notarial stamp with my name to run a scam selling properties in Taguig City,” the mayor said in a statement showing a sample of a notary document with a signature on top of her name. “The signature there is not mine,” she said.

“I do not practice law anymore, and I do not participate in buying and selling land, gold, stocks, and others. I am also not a notary public, nor have I ever applied to be one,” she said.
