Taguig City opens two more COVID-19 vaccination sites

MANILA, Philippines The city government of Taguig opened its sixth and seventh vaccination sites in Western Bicutan National High School in Barangay Western Bicutan and Mega Vaccination Hub in Samsung Hall, SM Aura in BGC on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

The opening of these vaccination sites will complement the existing two Mega Vaccination Hubs at the Lakeshore area and Vista Mall Parking Building, as well as the three Community Vaccine Centers at RP Cruz Elementary School, Maharlika Elementary School, and EM’s Signal Village Elementary School, the LGU said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the city of Taguig continues its vaccination rollout to all health workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities. The local government assured that the vaccination process is guided with strict compliance and protocols especially to the vulnerable sectors.

“The city continues to vaccinate those who are in categories A1, A2, at A3. We prioritize them because they are the most vulnerable sector. These are the most vulnerable sectors that if infected, there are high chances that they will experience severe symptoms,” Mayor Lino Cayetano said in his recent weekly report.

As of April 12, Taguig City has vaccinated 17,375 of its citizens 9,445 of whom are health workers, 3,503 are senior citizens, and 4,427 are individuals with comorbidities.

The local government of Taguig further said that 926 of the 9,445 vaccinated frontliners have already received their 2nd dose.

Even if current vaccine supplies remain dependent on the national government, Taguig City vowed to inoculate all of its residents noting that it is expecting doses of AstraZeneca, Covovax, Covaxin, and Moderna vaccines that will be distributed by the third quarter of this year.

To boost its inoculation drive and allow its residents to get vaccinated as soon as possible, Taguig City said its vaccination hubs are open even on weekends and holidays.

The local government then encouraged its dwellers anew to register in TRACE (Taguig Registry for Access and Citizen Engagement), Taguig City’s contact tracing app, for their vaccination schedule.

Aside from vaccinating its residents, Taguig is also distributing stay-at-home food packs since the first day of the implementation of ECQ, as well as emergency relief assistance for qualified beneficiaries of the social aid.
