LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—An internationally renowned travel magazine tagged the Saud Beach in the coastal town of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte province as among the most beautiful in the world with its “white sand” and “clear-as-glass water.”
The Pagudpud beach was first on the list published on Monday (April 12) by New York-based Travel + Leisure magazine as among the 25 “Most Beautiful Beaches in the World.”
Saud was the only Philippine beach that made the cut and has been a top tourist destination in the province.
According to local tourism data, around 207,000 tourists visited Saud in 2019.
“If you’re searching for Southeast Asian beach bliss, super-mellow Saud Beach on the island of Luzon is a sure thing,” according to Travel + Leisure.
“Swim in the peaceful waves, lunch under a thatch-rood cabana under the palms, or hire an outrigger for excursions on the water,” the magazine added.
Aside from Saud in the Philippines, other beaches in Hawaii, Brazil, Western Australia, Florida, Greece, were also on the top 25 list.
Earlier, the provincial tourism office launched a month-long online travel sale, dubbed “ComeIN”, as Ilocos Norte tried to rebuild its tourism industry hit hard by the pandemic.
Through the travel sale, at least 19 tourism establishments offered big discounts on tours, accommodations and food through an online portal at “ilocosnorte.ph”.
