MANILA, Philippines — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Philippines has surpassed 190,000 after health officials recorded more than 12,000 cases on Saturday.
The Department of Health (DOH) said there were 12,674 new COVID-19 infections tallied, bringing the total number of active cases to 190,245.
Some 225 individuals succumbed to the disease bringing the total fatalities due to COVID-19 to 14,744.
OVER 850,000.

Meanwhile, an additional 593 recovered from COVID-19 pushing the total number of recoveries to 648,220.
The DOH noted there were 19 duplicates removed from the total case count, of which seven are recoveries and one is a death.
There were 49 cases previously tagged as recoveries that were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
The DOH said three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System on April 9, 2021.
