COVID-19 death toll in Olongapo hits 53
OLONGAPO CITY — A coronavirus patient died on Friday (April 9), raising this city’s COVID-19 death toll to 53.
The fatality was an 83-year old woman, said Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. She had been exposed to her 60-year old caregiver who tested positive on April 7.
The elderly woman was rushed to a hospital on Thursday (April 8) when she began to have difficulty breathing and had taken a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.
Her results came out positive on the day she died.
Paulino said 15 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded, bringing up Olongapo’s active cases to 89.
As of Friday, Olongapo had a total 1,207 cases since 2020, but 1,065 of them have recovered.
