Olongapo gets 15 new COVID-19 cases from 7 villages

OLONGAPO CITY—At least 15 new COVID-19 cases were recorded here on Thursday (April 8) which were all traced to seven of the city’s 17 villages, officials said.

In a statement, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the patients ranged in age from 22 to 68 years old, most of whom contracted the virus at their workplaces or were exposed to virus-infected relatives.

The figure was among the city’s highest single-day tally since the pandemic began.

Barangay Gordon Heights recorded the highest number of fresh cases with five, followed by Barangay Barretto with three cases. The other cases were registered in the villages of Sta. Rita, New Kalalake, Old Cabalan, Mabayuan and East Bajac-Bajac.

Olongapo is currently on modified general community quarantine.

The city, which now has 80 active COVID-19 cases, has registered a total of 1,192 cases since 2020.
