QC Mayor Joy Belmonte recovers from COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has recovered from COVID-19.
Belmonte said she will be discharged from the isolation facility this Thursday.
“I will be discharged from the isolation facility today and have been declared recovered by the doctor in charge,” she said in a text message to INQUIRER.net.
In an interview with ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo, Belmonte also said she can now be “hands-on” in guiding barangay officials in the distribution of assistance for Quezon City residents during the enhanced community quarantine following her recovery.
Belmonte announced her COVID-19 positive test result on March 29. She said she was experiencing mild symptoms of the disease.
Article continues after this advertisementThis is the second time that the mayor contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the illness. She first tested positive in July last year as the country experienced a surge in COVID-19 infections.
