Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez announces plans to run for Congress

TACLOBAN CITY –– Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez has announced his political plans as he celebrated his 55th birthday on Wednesday, April 7.
He said he decided to swap positions with his wife Lucy, who is serving as congresswoman of Leyte’s fourth congressional district.
“Lucy is now on her last term already. Will it be okay if we just swap positions? Our congresswoman will run for mayor,” the actor-turned-politician said in a gathering held at the Ormoc Superdome.
The couple is a political ally of President Duterte.
Mayor Gomez said his wife would make a good mayor of Ormoc as he thanked her for all her work and projects she brought to Ormoc and the rest of the congressional district, which covers the towns of Kananga, Albuera, Palompon, Merida, Isabel, and Matag-ob.
Lucy first ran as a congresswoman in 2010.
