MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Taguig will start distributing “emergency assistance” on Wednesday to beneficiaries affected by the implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
The city government, in a statement on Tuesday, said it recently received the “emergency assistance” amounting to P805.8 million from the national government on Monday.
Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano immediately ordered the swift processing and creation of the list of beneficiaries, the statement added.
The following beneficiaries will receive the assistance from the city government in accordance to Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1 Series of 2021 issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Department of National Defense:
- Beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) under Bayanihan to Heal As One Act and additional beneficiaries of the emergency subsidy according to Section 4, (f)3 of Bayanihan to Recover as One Act;
- SAP wait-listed beneficiaries;
- Members of vulnerable groups like low-income individuals who are living alone, Person with Disabilities, solo parents, etc.;
- Other individuals affected by the ECQ are subject to remaining funds of the local government.
Meanwhile, the local government said it would continue to give three-day stay-at-home food packs and hygiene kits to every family residing in the city, which started when Metro Manila and four nearby provinces–Laguna, Bulacan, Rizal and Cavite– were placed under ECQ on March 29.
More than 352,000 families in the city will receive the food packs and hygiene kits, the LGU added.
