MANILA, Philippines — Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano has been vaccinated against COVID-19 after the government allowed the inoculation of mayors in high risk cities and municipalities.

“Today (April 5) I received the first dose of the Sinovac vaccine together with other A1.5 government frontliners, senior citizens and adults with comorbidities,” Cayetano said in a statement Monday.

Cayetano urged his constituents to register through Taguig Registry for Access and Citizen Engagement (TRACE).

“While supplies from the National Government continue to come in, we are expecting our orders of AstraZeneca, Covovax, Covaxin, and Moderna to arrive by the third quarter of the year. This will help the City in achieving its aim of fully inoculating the Taguig citizenry,” he said.

“Vaccination is an important component of the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate strategy. We must continue to work together as we transition to the new normal,” he added.

Aside from Cayetano, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno likewise received his first vaccine dose over the weekend.
