MANILA, Philippines — Several local government units in Metro Manila on Monday kicked off their mass vaccination program for senior citizens and those who fall under the A3 category, including persons with comorbidities and individuals with high-risk exposure to COVID-19 due to the nature of their work.
The Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) announced on Sunday the vaccination schedule for senior citizens on Monday, March 29.
According to the MPIO, the inoculation drive will be held at the following barangays:
District 1
Barangay 128 – Building 18 covered court
Barangay 32 – Wagas covered court
District 2
Barangay 154 – Checkmate court
Barangay 210 – Pamana court
District 3
Barangay 345 – Cecilio Apostol covered court
Barangay 377 – Pampanga covered court
District 4
Barangay 576 – D. Santiago court
Barangay 419 – Loreto covered court
District 5
Barangay 704 – San Andred covered court
Barangay 803 – SASES court
District 6
Barangay 627 – ASAC court
Barangay 604 – Paraiso court
The city government reminded those who have already pre-registered to bring their waiver form or QR code for verification.
Meanwhile, those who have yet to register for the city’s vaccine program can visit www.manilacovid19vaccine.com.
The local government of Navotas meanwhile posted the names of senior citizens who are set to be vaccinated against COVID-19 at the covered court of San Jose Academy.
“Pinapayuhan po ang kanilang mga kapamilya na samahan ang kanilang mga nakatatanda sa nakatakdang oras ng kanilang pagpapabakuna. Magdala po ng ballpen at ang print out o naka-save na QR code,” the local government said in a Facebook post.
(We remind relatives of the senior citizens to accompany them on their scheduled vaccination. Bring ballpen and present the printed or saved QR code.)
“Nasa 200 po ang inaasahan nating mabakunahang senior ngayon at AstraZeneca po ang ibibigay sa kanila,” Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco said in a separate social media post.
(We expect to vaccinate at least 200 senior citizens today with the AstraZeneca vaccine.)
Pateros also bared the names of senior citizens who will receive jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine at the AMC gym vaccination center in Barangay San Roque.
In three separate posts, the local government of Pateros uploaded lists of names who are scheduled for the city-wide vaccination program starting on Monday until Wednesday, March 31.
On the other hand, Caloocan City said that aside from senior citizens, it will also vaccinate residents who are considered as part of the A3 category of the vaccination priority groups.
In a Facebook post, Caloocan Mayor Oscar Malapitan explained that individuals who are 18-59 years old with comorbidities like chronic respiratory disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and diabetes are included in the city’s A3 category.
He added that those who have high-risk exposure to COVID-19 including the TODA, PODA, JODA, security guards, traffic enforcers, market vendors, government employees, financial offices employees, court staff, and hotel and restaurant staff under the same age group may also receive a shot of COVID-19 vaccine.
“Paalala na bibigyan prayoridad ang mga sumailalim muna sa profiling and natawagan ng inyong barangay health center para sa kumpirmasyon ng inyong schedule,” Malapitan said.
(Those who have already undergone profiling and have been called by the barangay health center for their confirmation of schedule will be prioritized [during the vaccination program].)
“Gayunman ay tatanggapin ang mga walk-in batay sa availability ng slot sa naturang araw,” he added.
(However, walk-ins will still be accepted depending on the availability of the slot on a specific day.)
The mayor also advised the residents to bring their own ballpen, PhilHealth ID, and proof of comorbidities such as a medical certificate issued by a doctor within the last 18 months, medicine prescriptions within the last six months, hospital records or surgical records, and pathological reports.
Data from the Department of Health and the National Task Force against COVID-19 released on March 24 reported that there are already 508,332 individuals who were vaccinated as of March 23.
These were administered across 1,759 vaccination sites in the country.
The Philippines has been vaccinating healthcare workers since March 1 using donated Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines or CoronaVac from China and donated AstraZeneca vaccines from the World Health Organization-led COVAX facility.
The DOH on Sunday recorded 9,475 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total active coronavirus cases in the country to 105,568.
Of the tally, 603,154 patients survived while 13,170 succumbed to the respiratory illness caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.
The country’s total COVID-19 caseload is 721,892.
