Quezon town police chief sacked over alleged sexual harassment

LUCENA CITY – The Lucban, Quezon police chief was relieved from his post after a female police officer accused him of alleged sexual harassment, a police report said Friday night.

Major Rizaldy Merene was sacked after the the alleged harassment case last March 25 in Barangay Wakas in neighboring Tayabas City.

No other details of the alleged incident were provided in the report. The victim was not also identified

“The act is not a virtue of a responsible, respected and disciplined police officer,” Quezon provincial police chief Colonel Ericson Dilag said in a statement.

Merene was reassigned to the Quezon Provincial Holding and Accounting Section at Camp Nakar in Lucena City.

He was replaced by Police Major Lauro Moratillo as officer-in-charge of Lucban police station.

A case of sexual harassment against Merene was filed at the city prosecutor’s office in Tayabas City.
