Isabela university locked down as coronavirus infects 2 faculty members, kills one of them

ECHAGUE, Isabela—The main campus of the Isabela State University (ISU) in this town was locked down from March 23 to March 28 after two faculty members tested positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Dr. Ricmar Aquino, ISU system president, said one of the infected faculty members had died.

Three close contacts of the two patients had initially tested positive for coronavirus and had already isolated themselves pending results of a second set of tests, said Aquino.

The university would operate with a skeletal workforce in the financial division while its other employees would temporarily work from home.

A worker of the ISU’s campus in Cauayan City has also tested positive for SARS Cov2, Aquino told the Inquirer.
