33 border, quarantine checkpoints set up in Nueva Ecija

CABANATUAN CITY –– At least 13 border control checkpoints have been put up in Nueva Ecija amid a spike in cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), including the United Kingdom variant, in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

The local police has also set up 20 quarantine control points inside the province to prevent virus transmission from other places, according to the Nueva Ecija Inter-Agency Task Force.

In Cabanatuan, the assessor’s office was closed indefinitely since Monday after one of its employees tested positive for COVD-19 last week.

As of March 22, only the municipalities of Nampicuan and Talugtug had zero active COVID-19 cases.

This city, which has a daytime population of 1 million, had the highest active COVID-19 cases at 55, followed by Gapan City with 42.
