2 Bacolod hospital nurses vaccinated with Sinovac test positive for COVID-19

BACOLOD CITY –– Two nurses at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), who were inoculated with Sinovac vaccines, have tested positive for COVID-19.

One nurse works in the operating room and the other at the emergency room.

At least 85 percent of the CLMMRH staff have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines.

“The nurses got the virus outside their workplace,” said Dr. Chris Sorongon, City Emergency Operation Centers deputy for medical data and analysis.

“We can rule out the possibility that there was a breach in the infection control of CLMMRH. The infection control of the hospital is good,” he added.

Sorongon said the two nurses, who have no symptoms, were detected to have the virus during the hospital’s regular surveillance testing of its personnel, which is done every two weeks.
