Henry Sy’s granddaughter Jan Catherine Sy dies

MANILA, Philippines — Jan Catherine Sy, granddaughter of the late retail tycoon Henry Sy, died on Thursday, her family confirmed in a statement.
Posts on social media from Jan Catherine’s friends containing statements from her father Henry Sy Jr. said that she died at around 6:35 p.m.
She was 29 years old.
Previous posts showed that Jan Catherine may have been exposed to bacteria which led to her confinement. On Thursday morning, she was reported to be in critical condition.
Senator Joel Villanueva, who is a good friend of Henry Sy Jr., has offered his condolences to the family.
“Devastating to hear the passing of Sis. Jan Catherine Sy, daughter of my good friend and brother in Christ Henry (Big Boy) Sy, Jr. Our deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones. Much love and prayers,” Villanueva said.
