MANILA, Philippines — Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have arrested a man in Mandaluyong City for illegal practice of medicine after allegedly performing a botched buttocks enhancement procedure.

NBI officer-in-charge Eric Distor said Wednesday that a woman claimed that a certain Gerlon Sadsad performed on her an injection treatment to augment her buttocks that resulted in inflammation and discoloration of her tush.

Sadsad allegedly performed another treatment on the complainant to remove the inflammation and discoloration but caused no improvement to her condition.

Distor said that upon verification with the Professional Regulation Commission, Sadsad does not possess a license or authority to practice medicine.

Officers of the NBI Special Action Unit then launched an operation to entrap the suspect as he arranged a follow-up treatment on the complainant.

Distor said they seized from Sadsad syringes, needles, topical anesthesia. 0.9% sodium chloride, wooden spatula, alcohol swabs, kitchen wrap, gauze pad, and underpants.

He said the man was presented for inquest proceedings before the City Prosecutor of Mandaluyong for violation of Republic Act No. 2382 or The Medical Act of 1959, and Estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code.
